Off we went to Hitler's "Mountain Fortress", in the Bavarian Alps.
Our coach took us 1200 metres above sea level, after which a shuttle bus took us up to 1800 metres. The final climb was through Hitler's tunnel and up Hitler's lift.
Eagle's Nest was not bombed during the war, but his residence lower down was.
No photography in the lift but at the top, yes.

Views from Top Towards Salzburg
Looking south to the lower corner of Germany.
We came down to Berchtesgaden, a pretty village on the German/Austrian border. We had lunch here.
After returning home for a rest, we set off on foot to do the last part of the Mozart Walk in Old Salzburg Town.
Today we found Cafe Tomiselli, where Mozart drank almond milk and his widow lived upstairs with her second husband.
Next was the very grand Salzburg Cathedral where Mozart was baptised.
Next was the very old St Peter's Church (1401).
Just near St Peter's is Stiftskeller St Peter, said to be the oldest restaurant in Europe, founded in 803. It nestles into the great rock surrounding Old Salzburg.
