Hoshino Festival

This morning we left very early to go to Hoshino, about a one hour drive along a narrow road up and down mountains. Here we met my friend Keisuke, who was also a student in Australia in 1962. Keisuke had driven up from Nara with his older brother and two older sisters. It was the rhododendron festival at Hoshino, which was quite spectacular.

There was a little area of animal statues. Here is Keisuke with a Japanese bear and a couple of koalas.
After a walk around the park and a drink together, we all said goodbye and set off home again.
It was lovely to meet Keisuke’s family - so friendly, natural and easy to be with. L
