Music and Afternoon Tea

Recorder class came first today and then “chorus”. The music teacher, Yoko, is very sweet and is also an accomplished musician and teacher. The man at the back is the local doctor and is also quite a good musician. Note our green slippers, supplied by the community hall, where we meet. 

Afterwards, Toshiko and I went to Shoko’s for afternoon tea. Shoko lives in a traditional Japanese house, which was once a “ryokan”, or traditional Japanese hotel or guesthouse.  The room was traditionally furnished - a tatami mat, low table with the rug to keep us warm. Shoko  served us tea and healthy cookies that looked like that served in a restaurant. As always, I was touched by Shoko’s kindness to me. 

Shoko, I will try to explain the meaning of “touched”.
