Culture, Religion and Deep Friendship.

This morning Christina, Buddhist in the philosophical way, although from a traditional Chinese Buddhist background, took me to visit three different places of worship.
First was a beautiful Mosque where we saw the end of one wedding and the beginning of another. The entry to the mosque was a gate and path edged by unique Islamic art.

Then we were off on foot to a traditional Chinese Buddhist temple. Christina explained this was more traditional Chinese early religion than Buddhism as Christina and I understand. In this way it is something like the way Shintoism has absorbed Buddhism in Japan.

Then off we went to the Hindu temple.

After lunch at the very opulent looking Orchard Road, where the expats and tourists spend their money, Christina saw me off on the train and I went to the top end of Singapore to meet Jenny, David and Hannah.
Jenny was another lecturer who supported me in my early Singapore days. So tonight we balanced my day with a deep and meaningful spiritual discussion. Jenny's  family are Christian, Jenny, a  Chinese Singaporean and David an Australian born in England.
How lucky I am to have all of these lovely friends. In spite of years between our meetings it is as though we met up yesterday. Will take some photos tomorrow. We were too busy hugging and talking to take photos tonight.
