Last morning in Usa

Usa is famous for its sumo wrestling, the most famous wrestler being Futabayama

Near this statue is a big "stadium" where big competitions are held.

Next on my tour with Akiko were some war remains.

This is one of many camouflaged "sheds" for  small planes that were used to attack the enemy. From these sheds/bunkers, 154 young soldiers ended their own lives.
Here is a war-time photo.

This plane section was salvaged from the ocean and in the middle, under the propeller is an Ojizo-sama, a deity seen as a guardian of children. Grieving parents ask the deity to guard their children’s souls. On the wall are some origami peace cranes.
From there, Akiko farewelled me at the Nakatsu City bus station and I went on my way to NakatsuE  village.
