Today Hanako invited me to spend the day at her home (next to Toshiko). In very heavy rain I walked to the bus stop and went up the mountain. I was a little nervous about how I would manage to communicate all day in Japanese, but I had a great time. Sometimes it was like playing charades - we all took turns!
Actually, I was pretty pleased with myself today. Often, I am not pleased with my failure to understand.
Hanako’s daughter Shuko and children Miki (12) and Hiroki (8) were visiting too, so it was a lot of fun.
Hanako served a wide variety of lovely food for lunch.
