Over the border

I did a few things in Albury, wearing a mask for the first time. The hairdresser was the first to tell me of the terrible numbers of Covid cases in Victoria today.
I tried to persist with the mask, but even with the optometrist’s advice about how to wear the mask, and her anti-fogging spray, my glasses kept fogging up and I just could not see.
I came over the border with a sickening feeling, but still had to shop. Some people had masks on, but I went in without mine. Masked, I couldn’t read my list or see what I was buying. Masks will be compulsory all over Victoria on Sunday. I am fighting tears. I won’t be going anywhere - that’s for sure.
Queensland may not stay “safe” forever, but I certainly wish I was still there.
I’m writing this in the shopping car park.  There won’t be time to write and express my feelings when I get home.
