We ended the day with an extravagant dinner at Clarke Quay on the banks of the Singapore River.
During the morning, we went to Little India, and Bugis Village, and ate nutritious $2.50 lunches with hoards of other people at a hawker centre.
Next was the Paranakan Museum, one of my favourite places in Singapore. We both loved the exhibition of the mixed racial cultures of Singapore, and we were lucky enough to see and listen to a guided tour of the the Needlework of the Paranakan women - embroidery and beading.
Paranakan is a word dervived from two words in Malay and Indonesian - "child"
and "descendant". The guide pointed out the styles and pictures in the embroidery, of the various cultures (Chinese, European, Indian, Malay, Indonesian).
We hopped on and off trains and buses all day- all for a song. A great day and now we are at the airport waiting for our next flight. Nara, here we come.
