Miyajima

This morning we rose early and took a train ride (a nice young Japanese man rescued our ticket buying effort) to Miyajima-Guchi, where we caught a ferry to this little island near Hiroshima.

Thank goodness we went early as the crowds grew very dense by the time we left. It was well worth the trip - very scenic, lovely nature walk and lots of little shops. We returned to Hiroshima by street car, an hour instead of the train's half hour trip. Lots to see out the window. We grabbed our bags from the hotel, some yen out of the machine and some sushi, and were soon on the Shinkansen to Kurume. That's where I am now. We have to change to a local train there, and do our final lap to Hita, where Toshiko will meet us. Mik is nodding off to sleep like a local.
When you read this, we will be at Nakatsue, where I will upload this on Toshiko's wifi.
