I came to my friend, Di’s farm today. We are about 5 kms from our last home. Di was my gardening and plumbing guru, my confidante, my support during the cancer episode, the truck driver who took my grandchildren for the farm experience of rounding up cows, the person who took my unwanted chooks to “chook heaven”. Well, she’s a friend I miss dearly.
This afternoon she took me in her “Gator” to move cattle from one paddock to the other.
Di is driving. I’m sitting beside her, buckled in. There are no doors. We were swooping around the paddocks, sometimes having a battle to move the stubborn ones. I held on tight. I had two jackets on as it’s a bit nippy.
Right now I’m sitting knitting in front of the fire. Di has gone to move the last lot of cows. Three groups of cattle have been in and out of the lucerne paddocks for a short feed
Our former neighbours are coming to dinner tonight - another happy reunion.
