Townsville and Magnetic Island with Robyn

I have just returned from a great holiday in Northern Queensland. My sister Robyn and I went to a recorder workshop and 5 concerts of the Australian Chamber Music Festival and also spent 5 days on Magnetic Island.

We were a little disappointed with the workshop because there was more contemporary "noise" music than beautiful music, but the tutor was excellent and the company good. Not sure I will use my newly acquired skill of blowing noises on my recorder.

After spending the weekend in Townsville, we went by ferry to Magnetic Island, which we loved. We couldn't believe our luck with weather - warm with blue skies every day. The island is unspoilt tropical paradise.

The only noises we heard at night were the Bush Stone Curlows which are in one of the photos. They scream!

We did a few bush walks, two of them very uphill, but the views at the top made the effort worthwhile.

We went to three concerts while staying in Townsville and then travelled to the other two concerts by bus-ferry-bus each way. It was wonderful to see and hear such superb musicians from
many parts of the world. Live music is such a treat for me.
It has been a memorable holiday and good to spend time with my sister. (She is the one in the blue shirt.)
