Recorder “Retreat” at Myrniong, Victoria.

Rob and I enjoyed our annual recorder”heaven” for three full days. Weather was perfect, the tutors and music spectacularly superb.
Our own special tutor was
Alexandra Bailliet-Joly, who, although quite young, excelled in every way. She is a caring, sensitive, well organised and expert teacher and she chose music that thrilled most people.

Another tutor we particularly liked was Rodney Waterman. He has many skills as well as being a very nice man!  He entertained us one evening with a light song and ukulele act- a very versatile performer and teacher.

Someone took this photo of Rob and me playing a duet in one of the”happy hour” concerts.

The highlight of the weekend was playing Elgar’s beautiful “Salut d’Amour” in the “Big Blow”. Around 40 recorders, including many very large and low recorders and ( for those who shudder) a few expert descant players. I just love playing with these people. Beautiful music is produced very quickly.
After the weekend we spent a night with cousin Noellene- always a treat.
Now we wait for October 2019!! 🙏
