We travelled by train from Noellene’s to Melbourne. After doing a tour of Southern Cross Station, making note of everything T & K might need tomorrow, such the airport shuttle bus, Metro and coffee shops, we went to the National Gallery of Victoria. We visited several exhibitions some beautiful and one not!
Gareth Sansom’s work was confronting and we all wanted to leave the room immediately. Akio’s Makigawa’s peaceful sculpture was a joy and most of the large collection of Australian art was great - some beautiful works. It was great to see the original “Pioneer” by Frederick MacCubbin. Keith gave me a birthday card if this many years ago when we were pioneering in Bathurst.
Then after a journey in the free tourist tram, we walked past the beautiful old Exhibition building and visited the Melbourne Museum.
We really enjoyed the Aboriginal exhibition and the Melbourne Gallery (historic photos and exhibits). It is always fun to see stuff that is regarded as history that we remember using!
