This post is for my friends in other countries, especially Singapore and Japan. My environment is very different from that of Singapore, so it is best shown by photos. I live in the Kiewa Valley, in north-east Victoria. We have a typical 1960's Aussi brick house. As do many Australians, we have a solar hot water system and have now introduced some solar panels to produce some of our own electricity. In our yard, we have three 5.000 gallon rain water tanks, which collect rain from the roof, and we also pump water from a bore. We supply all our own water. We have 1/2 an acre of land around our house, but most people who live in a town have about 1/4 acre. We grow someof our vegetables, have some fruit trees - apple (see the bird net over one of the apple trees in the photo), fig, plum, lemon and orange. We also grow blackberries and raspberries. Three bantam hens supply us with eggs.
